Beware the IRS Phishing Scam
This week I received an official-looking email sent with “high importance” purporting to be from the IRS. It reads: “After the last annual calculations of your fiscal activity we have determined that you are eligible to receive a tax refund of $109.30. Please submit the tax refund request and allow us 6 to 9 days in order to process it.” With the odd amount and the logo of the Treasury on the email, it looked legit. I sent it to my accountant, who told me the IRS will never contact you by email. It’s a scam. Here’s the link to the IRS website on phishing scams.
